Scenario 4: Challenges

  • The officer is not provided any additional information about the situation. There was zero planning and preparation. The victim advocate didn't have any ID/credentials with her. She is hurried and unfocused.

  • The victim advocate begins the notification and then stops to take a call. The officer makes the notification on the doorstep as he doesn't ask to enter the home or sit down. The neighbors are watching, and there is no privacy. 

  • The officer is not sure if the victim has been identified and seems to be confused when Gary asks if the officer is certain it is Robert. Additionally, the team does not bring any resources with them.
