June 23, 2025
In May 2025, the FBI posted a special report on incidents of law enforcement officers being assaulted or killed in the line of duty in 2024. The full report and other special reports are in the FBI’s online Crime Data Explorer at cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/special-reports.
The FBI publishes data from the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) Data Collection each year. LEOKA statistics are based on data that law enforcement agencies across the nation provide.
The FBI encourages all law enforcement agencies across the nation to participate so that LEOKA can be as beneficial and informative as possible. More information about LEOKA resources, history, and methodology are online at fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/more-fbi-services-and-information/ucr/leoka.
